I think that there's still way too much money in bitcoin that had no idea what bitcoin is or what it does, they just want to turn a "profit." We still need more serious financial and economic shakeups before people start to realize what this "new thing" really is. (Like sound money is a new idea...) They'll eventually get it. But, until then, ups and downs will be the results of speculation rather than protection.
