Sometimes you just really want to own a particular instance of an asset, rather than a random instance from the whole class. The house you were born in, for example, or a company working on technology you believe in. Or you want a stable-priced asset that isn't a currency, for medium-term savings. Long-term Bitcoin is best, but in the long-term we're all dead. Lots of us are living now and spending money now.
