When someone wants to add you as a friend, the best way is to give them your QR code. Then, you can use the Signal protocol to encrypt your messages. If you only know someone's npub, when you add them as a friend, you send them an enhanced Nostr DM. With your QR code in the DM, they can then send you messages encrypted with the Signal protocol.
